I was beginning to understand blending and colour by the time I started this work, and combine that with my increased interests in science, black holes, Einstein, etc., let me come up with this work. The red and black bars, the white circle and other geometric shapes, were taped off while I completed the background. After filling in all the areas and the work was finished, I noticed it looked good on its ‘side’, if you rotate it so the white circle is near the top. Doing that made the red and black bars look like buildings. Perhaps an early influence to the urban landscapes-like infused images in my future works? It’s not uncommon for me to paint one way and then realize I would prefer to rotate it and hang it in another direction.
